HSCA STATEMENT ON STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

February 8, 2023 by Grace Crozier State of the Union Responses 0 comments

Washington, DC (February 8, 2022) – The Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA), which represents the nation’s leading healthcare group purchasing organizations (GPOs), today released the following statement from President and CEO Todd Ebert, R. Ph., regarding President Biden’s State of the Union address:

“HSCA and its member group purchasing organizations (GPOs) applaud President Biden’s commitment to bolstering domestic manufacturing and to ensuring that essential medications and healthcare products are both affordable and accessible. Healthcare GPOs play a critical role in maintaining a resilient supply chain, rapidly adding new and nontraditional U.S.-based suppliers to contracts to increase supply throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Expanding domestic manufacturing capabilities in all sectors, including healthcare, is essential to public health emergency and natural disaster preparedness efforts. As the U.S. transitions out of the public health emergency this spring, GPOs will continue to support America’s hospitals and healthcare providers by reducing supply costs while ensuring providers have access to the high-quality products and services they need to care for their patients.”

“We look forward to continued work with the Biden administration, bipartisan Members of Congress, and all healthcare stakeholders to safeguard patient care and to increase U.S. preparedness to combat future pandemics and other significant public health threats.”
